Minnov8 Gang 287 – Uri Geller Bent My iPhone!

November 8, 2014 By Steve Borsch

Poor Phil. Though he does both yoga and ballet in his downtime, he somehow fell on his butt in a home construction accident—with his new iPhone 6 in his back pocket—and now needs to tell the Apple Geniuses what happened. We suggested he blame Uri Geller.

Hosts: Steve Borsch, Tim Elliott, Graeme Thickins and Phil Wilson.
Music: Happy by The Rev. Jimmie Bratcher. Brought to us by the podsafe Music Alley.

Minnov8 Gang 283 – Open Mouth, Insert Foot

October 11, 2014 By Steve Borsch

Like the women at the Grace Hopper Conference this week, the Gang was stunned that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said to women in attendance that they should ‘trust karma’ so they could expect pay equity (see Re/Code’s: Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Microsoft CEO Tells Women Techies to Trust “Karma” on Pay Inequity).

To say that there was negative blowback on Nadella was an understatement. In an email to Microsoft employees the next day, Nadella said that he answered “that question completely wrong.” Um…yep.

Hosts: Steve Borsch, Tim Elliott, Graeme Thickins and Phil Wilson.

Minnov8 Gang 279 – Social Media Trends @SMBMSP

September 13, 2014 By Steve Borsch

Lisa Grimm and Tony Saucier

Lisa Grimm and Tony Saucier

The Gang was pleased to have been invited to Social Media Breakfast #70 to host a panel discussion on Social Media Trends. We were very pleased to share the panel with, and gain the perspective of, local Social Media professionals Lisa Grimm of Space 150 (Twitter; LinkedIn) and Tony Saucier of Lifetime Fitness (Twitter; LinkedIn).

Quick note about the audio: Unfortunately the mixing board didn’t output all microphones at the same level so we resorted to extracting the audio track from the video. Therefore we’re also including the uStream video embedded here for your viewing too.

Hosts: Steve Borsch, Tim Elliott,Graeme Thickins and Phil Wilson.
Music: Elevator Operator by Texarillo. Brought to us by the podsafe Music Alley.

Minnov8 Gang 274 – Jimmy’s Pigs

August 2, 2014 By Steve Borsch

pigs-mainWe got a chuckle this week out of a local entrepreneur’s IndieGoGo fundraiser to get the Tonight Show’s Jimmy Fallon to a wedding at his family’s farm in Hayfield, MN, especially the ‘pig angle’ to entice investors (and yes, go there and help them do it while thinking, “That pig with Jimmy is cute. Wonder how he’ll taste?“).

Hosts: Steve Borsch, Tim Elliott, Graeme Thickins and Phil Wilson.
Music: I’m Gonna Leave This Town by Les Gordons. Brought to us by the podsafe Music Alley.

Minnov8 Gang 260 – The Minnebar Show

April 12, 2014 By Steve Borsch

minnebar_mainminnebar1This week’s show was recorded at Minnebar, the annual, largest and most fun tech event all year. Though this year’s event organizers have yet to release attendance figures, it was packed and our estimates are between 700-900 attendees.

barb-stinnett

Our very special guest was Barbara Stinnett, CEO and Managing Director for The Timmaron Group, an early-stage applied technologies firm that offers strategic and consultative expertise, working closely in the angel, VC, and PE community to help connect entrepreneurs with funding, strategy, product development and go to market initiatives.

Hosts: Steve Borsch, Tim Elliott and Graeme Thickins (Phil Wilson was here, but had to depart for two hours so missed our recording).
