Minnov8 Gang 201 – Big, Big Data

January 26, 2013 By Steve Borsch

big-dataRemember “Web 2.0?” When Tim O’Reilly coined the term in 1999 his intent was to describe the shift from desktop to web applications, data sharing and much more. Claimed to be overhyped, Web 2.0 still stuck as a term and was big enough to describe what needed understanding. Today the emphasis is on yet another all-encompassing term, “big data.” That term describes the deluge of data being spawned worldwide and the challenges faced (and opportunities to take advantage of) with trying to capture, curate, store, search, share, analyze, visualize, predict, glean (possibly hidden) meaning, and somehow make sense of it all.

Minnov8 Gang 200 – Successful Connections

January 19, 2013 By Steve Borsch

200thWow…this show is our 200th podcast! Seems like just yesterday we started but it’s been nearly five years since our first show. Why call this episode “successful connections?” Because the number “200” is a lot of things…but is also an HTTP status code indicating a successful connection which seems appropriate for a podcast.

The Gang has met and connected with hundreds of people who listen to this show. We’ve been pleased with the tens of thousands of downloads and listens which proves that the learning connections we, and especially our listeners, have made by listening make our effort to podcast weekly incredibly worthwhile and fun.

Thank you to our listeners, to the guests we’ve had on, and for the gracious access to events and venues we’ve been provided with so we can cover them and bring even more value to you!

Hosts: Steve Borsch, Tim Elliott, Graeme Thickins and Phil Wilson.
Music: Are You Losing Your Mind? by Buddy Guy. Brought to us by Music Alley.
